I am a proud cockney! Certainly don’t mind admitting it, although some still seem to stick up their nose at the idea! The truth is that I am cockney through and through – well more or less.

It really means that I am a real Londoner (actually very close to the Cheapside district of the City of London). Many people don’t realise that Cheapside is actually a street in the City of London, and is London’s historical and modern financial centre.

Cheapside’s history goes right back to the Middle Ages – I bet most people cant trace their birthplace back that far!

The part of London that is real, just like Michael Caine is. I think like he does, just like his quotes, several of which I have repeated here – some of his better known quotes too, such as:

  1. “I’m every bourgeois nightmare – a Cockney with intelligence and a million dollars” OR
  2. “Save your money. You’re going to need twice as much money in your old age as you think”, OR EVEN
  3. “Be like a duck. Calm on the surface, but always paddling like the dickens underneath”

Yes, I am definitely conservative in some ways, I am middle-class values and to a large extent in many ways I am a conformist, actually loving a lot of our British traditions but then there is my other side – the reactionary!

Two widely different people as a matter of fact and I am only one!

Done lots of things and I am only in my very early 20’s. Maybe it’s the parents, and siblings I have or even the influence of my extended family but I feel I am lucky, very lucky in not being stuck in just one personality!

My accent is (what I consider) a very interesting mix – small part Cockney, a touch of South African and even some Canadian thrown in – how is that for spicing it up.

I have only a few true hobbies – reading, three day horse eventing (a trifle on the dangerous side for my family), and of all things knitting!

Have had a few boyfriends but my trusted, beloved and loyal companion now is Marcus – my little miniature dachshund.
